LYNNVILLE, Ky. -- Dannie Wilson Dick, 72, formerly of Graves County, Ky., passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at his home in Lutz, Fla.

He was born Nov. 23, 1940, in Lynnville, son of Dennis Melvin and Christine Wilson Dick. He and Barbara Jean Ferrell were married May 29, 1970.

Dannie was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was an avid sports fan who loved to watch the Tampa Bay Rays, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kentucky Wildcats. He passed his love of sports to his daughter, Stacy. They spent many hours debating teams and players each season.

The highlight each week for Dannie was meeting all of his buddies at the Cuban Sandwich Shop for breakfast every Saturday morning. They were a group of men who formed a special bond over the many years they met for breakfast, supporting each other in all of their celebrations and sorrows. They delighted in trying to see who could tell the biggest story for the week.

Dannie loved trading. If he was not trading hunting dogs, knives, his guns or cars, he was looking for something to trade. He always was willing to do whatever it took to make a deal.

He once took a horse in on a car trade while working at DeWayne Taylor Chevrolet in Murray, Ky. Little did Dannie know that this trade would lead to his love of the horse show industry. He spent many hours riding and showing horses and became an accomplished horseman.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Barbara; three daughters, Gayla Camacho of Murray, Teresa (Sean) Hegerty of Clarksville, Tenn., Stacy Perez of Lutz; two sisters, Karen Wiggins and Cherry Babb of Mayfield, Ky.; three grandchildren, Shawna Hendon, Kristen (Tony) Heimpel, Nick (Kaydee) Dammer; two great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Trevor Babb.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of service Sunday at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. immediately after visitation. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley, Mo., with military graveside rites by Missouri Honors Program.
