CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- "Beloved father, loving husband, inventor, entrepreneur, pilot, mariner, engineer, businessman, tinkerer and lover of life."
Daniel A. Webb died Sunday, May 28, 2017, in Corpus Christi after a brief fight with cancer.
Dan was born Nov. 16, 1941, to Joseph Alan Webb and Kathryn Frances Lemons Webb in East Prairie, Missouri.
He graduated from East Prairie High School, then from Southeast Missouri State University with a bachelor's degree in business administration and minor in economics and psychology, all fields he called on in his distinguished career.
Dan married Judith "Judy" Graff of Sikeston, Missouri, on Aug. 27, 1963. They forged a friendship and enduring marriage, raised two children and created a legacy of joyous companionship and inspiration.
Dan was pre-deceased by his parents and brother, Sidney T. Webb.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Webb; son, Michael Alan Webb, and family of Dallas; daughter, Jessica Webb Ramos of Corpus Christi, and her son, J. D. Ramos; sister, Martha Webb-Beard of Dyersburg, Tennessee; as well as extended family.
After success as an accountant and sales manager, Dan founded Delta Plastics Inc., and also established Wheelsport, manufacturing and outfitting custom vehicles. In 1983, his entrepreneurial drive led to the establishment of The Automart Inc., a wholesale used vehicle dealership in Corpus Christi.
Dan was an honorary member of the Society of Plastics Engineers, but his crowning achievement professionally was a United States patent for his invention of a plastic-clip device that secures exterior shutters during a hurricane.
Dan was a capable pilot, mariner and motocross enthusiast, avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles and loved history. He was a bridge player and a bridge builder with a wonderful sense of humor. He saw the bright and better side of life, and shared that perspective with those around him.
Dan's life was celebrated privately, and no memorial service is planned.
