SIKESTON -- Funeral service for Daniel Webster Burns of Sikeston will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. The Rev. A.G. Hampton will officiate, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery at Hayti.
Friends may call at the funeralhome after 5 p.m. today.
Burns, 75 years old, died Friday, March 1, 1991, at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
He was born Dec. 24, 1915, in Moro, Ark., son of Charles Newton and Mattie Rogers Burns. He first married Judith Watts. He later married Geraldine Decker Whaley Dec. 25, 1963, at Engram Ridge.
Burns moved to Sikeston in 1968 from California. He was a lineman 20 years with REA Cooperative, and was a member of Calvary Temple. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Tommy Burns of Lexington, Ky., Danny Burns of Hobart, Ind., Walter Whaley of Southaven, Miss., James Whaley of Dallas, Tex.; three daughters, Judy Hammelback of San Antonio, Tex., Mary Evans and Marcella Dobbs of Sikeston; 17 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
