Daniel Lee Estes, 55, of Jackson died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, in an automobile accident near Pocahontas, Mo.
He was born July 19, 1948, in Cape Girar-deau, son of Fred and Ida B. Hubbard Estes. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1966, and immediately joined the U.S. Army to serve in Vietnam.
While in Vietnam, he received military decorations including the Purple Heart.
Loving survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Mark O'Kelley, and two grandchildren, Victoria and Seth O'Kelley, all of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; two brothers, the Rev. Don Estes of St. Marys and Tim Estes of Jackson; three sisters, Diane Vogelsang and Linda Seabaugh of Jackson and Mary Lou Roberts of DeSoto, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call Monday, Aug. 25, from 4 to 8 p.m., at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
Funeral service will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Daniel Hale officiating. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Travis Vogelsang, Joe Roberts, Mark Seabaugh, Jason Estes, Jonathan Estes, Zack Estes and Gabe Estes.
Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery with a graveside military honors service.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the grandchildren's college fund.
