CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Daniel Clark, 72, of Chaffee died Monday, Sept. 10, 2001, at his home. He was born Sept. 28, 1928, in Hagenville, Ark., son of Henry and Alice Johnson Clark. He and Audrey Faye Leggett were married Sept. 23, 1950, in Piggott, Ark. Clark was a conductor with Burlington Northern Railroad in Chaffee 41 years. CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Daniel Clark, 72, of Chaffee died Monday, Sept. 10, 2001, at his home.

He was born Sept. 28, 1928, in Hagenville, Ark., son of Henry and Alice Johnson Clark. He and Audrey Faye Leggett were married Sept. 23, 1950, in Piggott, Ark.

Clark was a conductor with Burlington Northern Railroad in Chaffee 41 years. He was a member of Chaffee Elks Lodge 639, Chaffee VFW Post 3127, and Trainmen's United Transportation Union.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy from October 1945 to June 1949. His ranks were seaman apprentice, seaman second class, seaman first class, and seaman commissaryman. He trained at the Naval Center in San Diego, Calif. He served on the USS Doran, Squad DMS-41, and at NOB, Guam, Mare Island. He received the Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and China Service Medal.

Survivors include his wife; a son and daughter-in-law, Charlie and Teresa Clark of Chaffee; two daughters and a son-in-law, Angela McGuire of Chaffee, Sharon and Don McCarty of Jackson, Mo.; six grandchildren, Amanda Clark, Kristin Bailey of Chaffee, Christy and David Mott, Holly and Brian Hall, all of Scott City, Mo., Chris Clark of Cape Girardeau, Amy Corvick of Jackson; four great-grandchildren, Bradley and Brandon Mott of Scott City, Dylan Corvick and Payton Walley of Jackson; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Hazel and Ermon Storms of Vanduser, Mo., Myrtle and Jack Proctor of Omaha, Neb.

He was preceded in death by six brothers and a sister.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee after 4 p.m. today. An Elks service will be held at 7.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Watis Harrell officiating. Burial will be in New Morley Cemetery at Morley, Mo., with military graveside rites.
