Damon Todd Davie, 52, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Nov. 24, 1969, in Cape Girardeau to Gary and Jane Verhines Davie.
He was an avid sports fan and had played baseball since his youth with Don Hopper's Mighty Mites, and continued through youth leagues, Cape Girardeau Central High School and college.
He was a graduate of Central High School. He attended Mineral Area College and Maryville University on a baseball scholarship.
Damon first worked for Cape Tractor Trailer, then Famous-Barr and Citi Group, and the last 19 years for Schaeffer Manufacturing Co. with his dad. He was a true gift from God and will truly be missed.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he was baptized and confirmed.
Survivors include his parents; brother, Christopher Davie; nephew, Benjamin Davie; uncles and aunts, Kent (Wanda) Verhines and Brad (Janet) Verhines; and numerous cousins.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Douglas Breite officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or Saxony High School Athletic Department.
