PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Dalvin O. Yamnitz, 92, of Perryville died Friday, June 9, 2017, at his home.
He was born Dec. 25, 1924, in Perry County, Missouri, son of Gustav and Hazel Shrum Yamnitz. He and Viola Clements were married April 17, 1948. She preceded him in death April 20, 2014.
Dalvin retired from Ozark National Life Insurance Co. and previously had worked for many years with the St. Louis Globe Democrat.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville.
He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran.
Survivors include nine daughters and four sons, Melba Wilmarth of Cape Girardeau, June (Dave) Ernst of Perryville, Robert (Marilyn) Yamnitz of Perryville, William (Lynn) Yamnitz of Fieldon, Illinois, Linda (Bradley) Riney of Perryville, Elizabeth (Richard) Taylor of Perryville, James (Cindy) Yamnitz of St. Louis, Susan Yamnitz of Perryville, Carolyn (Leon) Spencer of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Edward (Jennifer) Yamnitz of Stockton, California, Donna (Alan) Ford of Jackson, Kim (Neal) Kaempfe and Lisa Shedd of Perryville; one brother, Alva Yamnitz of St. Louis; one sister, Viola Sharp of Perryville; 33 grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one daughter, Marilyn Yamnitz; two brothers, Eldon and Ray Yamnitz; one son-in-law, George Wilmarth; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville, with eulogy at 8 p.m. Visitation will continue from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Thomas Handrick officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, with military graveside honors provided by American Legion Post 133 and Delta Team.
Memorials are preferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
