SCOTT CITY -- Funeral service for Dailey B. "Dale" Hopper of Rock Island, Ill., was held Monday at First Lutheran Church there. Private burial was Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery at Rock Island.

Hopper, 83, died Friday, Feb. 18, 1994, at Silver Cross Nursing Center in Rock Island.

He was born April 27, 1910, in Hamburg, Ark., son of William and Bridget Dailey Hopper. He and Minerva I. Ringberg were married Nov. 21, 1953, in Rock Island.

Hopper owned and operated several service stations in Rock Island, retiring in 1977. He was also a mechanic many years at Lohse Automotive.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Nancy McCutcheon of New Orleans, La., Janice Fields of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; two sons, John Hopper of Washington, D.C., Larry Hopper of Inverness, Fla.; his mother of Scott City; four sisters, Alma Crader of Scott City, Martha Dunger of St. Louis, Rose Goehman of Cape Girardeau, Willie Janesko of Waterloo, Ill.; three brothers, William Hopper of Coos Bay, Ore., Ray Hopper of Charlotte Hall, Md., Tom Hopper of Scott City, and four grandchildren.
