Cyril John "Cy" Glueck, 72, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, March 22, 2010, at the family home.

He was born April 6, 1937, at New Hamburg, Mo., to Cyrila Glueck. He was then adopted by Ewald Anton and Mary Frances Gosche Schindler. He and Dorothy Mary Koenig were married June 20, 1959.

He and Dorothy were owners and operators of Schindler's Tavern in New Hamburg 28 years. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau, a 4th Degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 4311 in Oran, Mo., Elks Lodge 1810 in Chaffee, Mo., and Kenny Rogers Children's Center Board 25 years. He helped start the Kow Pasture Klassic 25 years ago to help sponsor the center.

Glueck was the inventor of the original bologna burger. One of the most important things to Cy was to visit his many friends in nursing homes and hospitals every week. He was also sponsor of the 1967 New Hamburg team that won the state championship Fast Pitch Tournament in St. Joseph, Mo.

Survivors include his wife; and a son, Danny "Louie" (Lynette) Glueck of Jackson. Cy left a whole bunch of great friends.

Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg. Parish Prayers will be at 6:30, followed by Knights of Columbus rosary.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Lawrence Church, with the Rev. Dave Hulshof and the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery.
