SIKESTON, Mo. -- Curtis Henry Cline, 91, of Sikeston died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at Clearview Nursing Center.

He was born May 14, 1911, on a dairy farm near Morehouse, Mo., son of William Henry Cline, a native of Hickman County, Ky., and Nannie Lena Kline of New Madrid County, Mo.

Curtis Cline was respected in the community for his hard work, honesty, and integrity. He owned and operated Cline Limestone Co. from 1939 to 1949, and is best remembered as a horticulturist and owner of Cline Nursery between 1950 and 1989.

An active member of First Church of the Nazarene in Sikeston for over 60 years, Curtis had a truly humanitarian heart with contempt for all that was mean or unjust and was strictly temperate in his habits.

He was united in marriage at Sikeston to Marie Ruth Price Nov. 2, 1935. Marie died Nov. 22, 2000, after 65 years of marriage together.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, C. Eugene and Jeanette Cline of Tempe, Ariz., C.F. and Kay Cline of Port Charlotte, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Tom Harmon of Cape Girardeau; five granddaughters; seven great-grandsons; a great-granddaughter; and many nephews and nieces.

Four brothers, Howard Cline, William "Ed" Cline, Gazawell Cline and Clarence "Cotton" Cline; and three sisters, Eula Cline Goolsby, Vera Cline Johnson and Grace Cline Dye, preceded him in death.

Friends may call today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston.

A celebration of his life will be held Monday, Dec. 30, at 1 p.m. at First Church of the Nazarene in Sikeston. Anyone who would like to share a story or memory of Curtis Cline is invited to speak at the service. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Sikeston.
