LEOPOLD, Mo. -- Pastor Curtis Lynn Allen, 84, of Leopold went to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at his residence.
He was born April 25, 1925, in Doe Run, Mo., son of Maple W. and Hazel F. Huff Allen. He and Velma Huffman were united in marriage Sept. 30, 1949.
Pastor Allen was ordained Oct. 20, 1962. He was a member of Old Liberty Association, a member of Barks Chapel General Baptist Church and worked as a timber worker and farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Velma Allen of Leopold; four sons, Mark (Barbara) Allen, Pastor Joe (Cathy) Allen, Pastor Aaron (Connie) Allen and Pastor Elijah (Teresa) Allen, all of Leopold; a daughter Janis (John) Hovis of Zalma, Mo.; a brother, David Allen of Whitewater; a sister, Genevieve Jones of O'Fallon, Ill.; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Timothy; and a sister, Mary Ester Allen.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill, Mo., and from 9 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Monday at Barks General Baptist Church.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Barks Chapel General Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jim Fulbright, the Rev. Steve Sander and the Rev. David Kempfer officiating. Burial will follow in Laflin Cemetery near Laflin, Mo.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gideons, Little Valley Missions Fund or to the Laflin Cemetery Association.
