THEBES, Ill. -- Cpl. Brenton Carr Comte, 22, of Thebes, died Sunday, May 20, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, from injuries received in a motorcycle accident.
He was born May 16, 1979, in Cairo, Ill., son of Bert Ray Carr and Nancy Marie Comte.
Comte was serving in the United States Marine Corps. He was of the Lutheran belief.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, David and Minta Comte of Southern Pines, N.C.; two sisters, Frances A. Comte of Thebes, Jenny G. Comte of Champaign, Ill.; a grandmother, Marilyn Phillips Comte of Thebes; and an uncle, H.B. Carr of Collinsville, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandmother, Alta Carr; and grandfather, Eugene David Comte.
Friends may call at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro, Ill., from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Charles Seabaugh officiating. Burial will be in Tower Grove Cemetery at Murphysboro. Full military rites will be conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, and will be accepted at the funeral home.
