SIKESTON, Mo. -- Coy G. McDowell, 76, of Sikeston died Thursday, March 27, 2003, at his home.
He was born May 11, 1926, at Morehouse, Mo., son of Walter and Ruby Burns McDowell. He and Martha Lou Kelley were married May 17, 1947, in Londre, Ark. She died July 4, 1994.
McDowell had been a self-employed painter and drywaller.
He served with the U.S. Army 24th Infantry during World War II.
Survivors include two sons, Davey McDowell of Charleston, Mo., Barry McDowell of Sikeston; two daughters, Sue Sisco of Sikeston, Melodie Burnett of Benton, Mo.; three brothers, Bill and Frank McDowell of Sikeston, Gene McDowell of Wappapello, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with J.S. Kimbro officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery, with full military rites by Missouri Military Funeral Honor Guard.
