CAIRO, Ill. -- Cornell Shemwell, 74, of Cairo, died Monday, May 16, 1994, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born in Cairo, daughter of Howard and Kittie Hall Murray. She married Howard Shemwell, who died in 1973.
Shemwell was a retired owner of Howard and Cornell Shemwell's Bar-Be-Que here, and member of Cairo Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Max Lee "Skip" Shemwell, her mother, a brother, Clifford Murray, all of Cairo; a sister, Linda Pemberton of Lake Placid, Fla.; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo after 5 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Larry L. Potts officiating. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge.
