CHAFFEE -- Cora H. Mayfield, 84, of Chaffee died Tuesday, July 6, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born July 7, 1914, in Bollinger County, daughter of John and Francis Welker Hanners. She and Oscar Isaac Mayfield were married Aug. 13, 1937. He died Sept. 30, 1984...

CHAFFEE -- Cora H. Mayfield, 84, of Chaffee died Tuesday, July 6, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 7, 1914, in Bollinger County, daughter of John and Francis Welker Hanners. She and Oscar Isaac Mayfield were married Aug. 13, 1937. He died Sept. 30, 1984.

Mayfield had been a top stitcher at Sports Specialty Shoe Co. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include two stepsons, Vernowen Mayfield of Belleville, Ill., Burl Mayfield of Hernando, Miss.; a sister, Idell Beart of Chaffee; two stepgrandchildren; and four great-stepgrandchildren.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee after 4 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. John Davis officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
