Connie May Melton, 88, of Oak Ridge died Monday, March 25, 2013, at Jackson Manor in Jackson.
She was born March 24, 1925, in Lilbourn, Mo., to Thomas Guston and Mary Alice Craig Blackwell. She and Thomas "Jack" Melton were married Jan. 11, 1943, in Benton, Mo. He preceded her in death Feb. 11, 2004.
Connie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Apple Creek, Mo. She was a beautician and owned her own shop in Berkeley, Calif.
Survivors include a daughter, Jackie Duarte of Bondurant, Wyo.; a brother, Robert Blackwell of Jackson; three sisters, Betty Dietiker of Park Hills, Mo., Nadiene Blyze and Bonnie Busby of Bismarck, Mo.; three grandchildren, John, Kathy and Mark Duarte; three great-grandchildren, Samantha, JoAnna and Jake Duarte; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers Clyde, Earl and Bill Blackwell; and three sisters Lilly Pedigo, Edith McCaulley and Maureen O'Howell.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Anthony Dattilo officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
