Vivian Collene Duckett, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, May 18, 2021, surrounded by her family at the Lutheran Home.

She was born Jan. 12, 1936, in Rockview, Missouri, to Roscoe Martin and Emma Maureen Carnell Summers.

She was raised in Chicago, where she married John Golembiewski and had one son, Kenneth. She lived in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Long Island, New York, before moving back to Chicago, where she met her second husband, William Leroy Duckett. They moved to Cape Girardeau in 1969 and had one daughter, Maureen.

Collene worked as a certified nursing assistant at Saint Francis Medical Center and the "old" Saint Francis for 18 years. She helped open the Missouri Veterans Home and worked there until her retirement in 2001.

She loved to play her guitar and sing. She never missed a campfire gathering or the employee talent show at the Veterans Home. She was a member of Millersville Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, Kenneth Golembiewski of Woodruff, Wisconsin; her daughter, Maureen (Shane) Richards of Jackson; two grandchildren, William and Justin Richards of Jackson; and a sister, Camille (John) Pylpchek of Palatine, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Glen Summers, Phillip Bruno and Paul Laymon; and three sisters, Naoma Summers, Maxine Albrecht and Patricia Opolony.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be at Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee, Missouri.
