Clyde Clifford Winter III, 72, of Jackson died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at Jefferson Barracks Skilled Nursing Facility in St. Louis. He was born April 5, 1937, in Farmington, Mo., son of the late Clyde Clifford and Elizabeth (Dunn) Winter. He married Elizabeth "Betty" Simms on May 23, 1959. She survives him. Clyde Clifford Winter III, 72, of Jackson died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at Jefferson Barracks Skilled Nursing Facility in St. Louis.

He was born April 5, 1937, in Farmington, Mo., son of the late Clyde Clifford and Elizabeth (Dunn) Winter. He married Elizabeth "Betty" Simms on May 23, 1959. She survives him. In 2009 the couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

He was a member of the Capaha Antique Car Club of Cape Girardeau and was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson. He enjoyed rebuilding classic cars, especially his 1950 Ford. In his earlier days he was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. After his graduation from Farmington High School he joined the U.S. Army and served his country between 1960 and 1966. For many years he worked in insurance for various companies and as an independent agent.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Annette Lynn Gross and her husband William of Rockford, Ill.; a son, Kevin Wade Winter and his wife Tiffany of Oran, Mo.; four grandchildren, Devin Wade Winter of Gordonville, Colten Reed Winter of Oran and Danielle Stephanie Gross and Lindsay Jessica Gross, of Rockford; a sister, Madeline Pauline Winter of Farmington; his mother-in-law, Joyce Simms; six brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ronald and Eva Simms of Farmington, Harold Jr. and Connie Simms of Wildwood, Mo., Larry and Salley Allen of Las Vegas; a godson, Donald Eugene Simms of Farmington; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and aquaintances.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 7 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at Cozean Memorial Chapel in Farmington.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Pastor David Johnson officiating.

Interment will be at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Farmington.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Jackson or to the donor's choice.
