EAST PRAIRIE -- Funeral for Clyde T. Sterling of East Prairie will be held at 2 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Chapel in East Prairie. The Rev. Thomas Snavley will officiate. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery.

Sterling, 75, died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, at his home.

He was born Feb. 2, 1924, in Camden, Tenn., son of Clarence and Tessie Smith Sterling. He and Lindy Hopper were married June 20, 1946.

Sterling lived in East Prairie most of his life and was a member of First Assembly of God Church.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded five Bronze Stars and the Good Conduct Medal.

Survivors include his wife; 10 sons, Jimmy, Thomas "Mickey", David, Steven, Danny and Gary Sterling, all of East Prairie, Curtis Sterling, address unknown, Michael Sterling of Charleston, Kenny and Darrell Sterling of Fairfield, Ill.; three daughters, Patty Williamson of East Prairie, Clydena "Deanie" Hudgens of Poplar Bluff, and Melissa Sterling of Houston, Texas.

Also surviving are four sisters, Ruth Light of Tucson, Ariz., Elois Bishop of Anderson, Ind., Susie Tidwell of East Prairie, Virginia Sitzes of Glen Allen; 19 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, a great-granddaughter and a sister.
