CAIRO, Ill. -- Clyde F. Mulcahy, 87 years old, of East Cape Girardeau, Ill., formerly of Cairo, died Sunday morning, April 21, 1991, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Jan. 5, 1904 in Miller City, Ill., son of Henry and Minnie Byrd Mulcahy.

He was the retired owner of Cairo Bottling Works, SEMO Distributing Co. of Sikeston, and Pyramid Distributing Co. of Cairo. He also owned and operated Cairo Harbor Service and Cairo Terminal Fleeting Co. before his retirement.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cairo, a fourth degree member of Cairo's Knights of Columbus Council 1027, and a 63-year member of Cairo's Elks Lodge. He also served as the first assistant chief of the Cairo Auxiliary Fire Department.

He was a former member of the Cairo Kiwanis Club and the Egyptian Country Club.

He married Ruth Upshaw on Feb. 16, 1930. She survives.

Also surviving are one sister, Frances McKinney of Cairo; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters, one son and one daughter.

Friends may call at the Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

A rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. today.

Funeral mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Rev. Jerome Fortenberry officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Villa Ridge, Ill.
