Clomer Lannom

Clomer Harrell Lannom, 91, of Jackson passed away Monday, Oct. 5, 2015, at his home.

He was born June 30, 1924, in Bradford, Tennessee, son of Clomer L. and Pauline Davis Lannom. He and Velma Lou Carr were married Dec. 24, 1946, in Trenton, Tennessee. She passed away June 22, 2011.

Clomer served in the U.S. Navy from June 1944 until his honorable discharge in February 1946.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson, where he was active in the choir while his health permitted. He raised cattle and row crops near Lilbourn, Missouri, and then moved to Puxico, Missouri, where he farmed until retiring in 1986. He was a lifetime member of the Puxico VFW. In 1992 he and Velma moved to Jackson.

Loving survivors include a son, Lanny (Elaine) Lannom of Jackson; three grandchildren, Brad (Laura) Wilfong of Arnold, Missouri, Sean Lannom of Sullivan, Missouri, and Dawna (Jamie) Parker of Jackson; seven great-grandchildren, Bryar, Lorrin and Dayton Wilfong, Kolton Lannom, Auburn, Sophie and Beau Parker; a brother, Samuel (Edna) Lannom of Bradford; and a sister-in-law, Julie (Bill) Butler of Milan, Tennessee.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Rhonda Darlene Lannom and Marilyn Wilfong; and a son, Don Lannom.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Lucas Clabough officiating.

Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, with graveside military honors.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
