Clifford Leo Wheeler, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, March 1, 2007, at his home.

He was born Sept. 6, 1928, in Bell City, Mo., son of William Claud and Lee Myra Harvey Wheeler. He and Mollie Horner were married in 1950 in Piggott, Ark.

Wheeler served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from April 27, 1951, to April 18, 1953.

He was a carpet installer. He was a charter member of La Croix United Methodist Church. He was also a member of V.F.W. and Elks in which he was a former exalted ruler.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Clifford Wheeler Jr. of Sycamore, Ill.; three daughters, Donna Wheeler of Cape Girardeau, Debbie Hageman of Lees Summit, Mo., Lee Robinson of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Herbert Wheeler of California, Claud Wheeler of St. Joseph, Mo.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Lex Horner officiating. Graveside military rites by Missouri Honors Team will follow at noon at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
