CHAFFEE -- Clifford G. Proffer, 82, of Chaffee died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 1996, at Chaffee Nursing Center.
He was born April 2, 1914, at Bloomfield, son of William Franklin and Olive Bethel Williams Proffer. He and Rosetta H. Gibbs Myers were married March 17, 1951. She died June 21, 1983.
Proffer was a machine operator at Florsheim Shoe Co. in Chaffee, retiring in 1979. He was a member of General Baptist Church and the Brotherhood of the church. He served with the U.S. Air Force in England during World War II.
Survivors include a son, Gary Proffer, Chaffee Route 1; a daughter, Sheila Eby of Whitewater; three brothers, LaRue and Clayton Proffer of Chaffee, William Proffer of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and four grandchildren.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee after 4 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at General baptist Church, with the Rev. Joe Payne officiating. Burial will be in Union Park Cemetery.
