ANNA, Ill. -- Clifford A. Myers, 103, of Anna, formerly of Alto Pass, Ill., died Monday, Oct. 13, 2008, at Union County Hospital. He was born July 28, 1905, in Alto Pass, son of Charles A. and Cora Cauble Myers. He and Lucille Hamilton were married Dec. 5, 1923. He and Iva Buescher were married Dec. 19, 1953. He later married Mary Lilly April 14, 1962. All preceded him in death...

ANNA, Ill. -- Clifford A. Myers, 103, of Anna, formerly of Alto Pass, Ill., died Monday, Oct. 13, 2008, at Union County Hospital.

He was born July 28, 1905, in Alto Pass, son of Charles A. and Cora Cauble Myers. He and Lucille Hamilton were married Dec. 5, 1923. He and Iva Buescher were married Dec. 19, 1953. He later married Mary Lilly April 14, 1962. All preceded him in death.

Survivors include three daughters, Betty Cacioppo of Bensonville, Ill., Irma Frick of Jonesboro, Ill., Shirley Osladil of Ottawa, Kan.; three sons, James Myers of Phoenix, F.M. "Butch" Myers of Jonesboro, Tom Myers of Dongola, Ill.; a stepson, Tom Lilly of Alto Pass; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; 16 great-stepgrandchildren; and 16 great-great-stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, a sister and a brother.

Myers was an active member of the Congregational Church in Alto Pass many years. His working career consisted of teaching school, managing a Kroger in St. Louis, and during World War II he worked at a defense plant in Crab Orchard, Ill. Later in life he farmed and sold peaches and apples in Southern Illinois and parts of Missouri.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Alto Pass and after 10 a.m. Friday at the Congregational Church in Alto Pass.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Revs. Bruce Osladil and Michael Osladil officiating. Burial will be in Alto Pass Cemetery.
