SCOTT CITY -- Clifford Harvey Campbell, 78, of Scott City died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1992 at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born April 13, 1914 in Matthews, the son of Walter and Dixie Casteel Campbell.
He married Delsie Irene Lambert on March 2, 1940. She preceded him in death on June 11, 1983. He then married Nancy Gilbert on Jan. 6, 1984. She survives of Scott City.
He was employed by the city of Scott City for 30 years. He served as mayor of the town from 1969 to 1975 and was instrumental in the establishment of the Scott City Park and Municipal Pool.
He was a member of the Broadway Methodist Church, the Harold O. Grauel Masonic Lodge in Cape Girardeau, IOOF, Kiwanis Club and was a long-time youth league baseball coach.
Other survivors are one son, Ray Campbell of Scott City; five daughters, Barbara Griffin, Virginia Cline and Brenda Campbell, all of Sikeston, Wilma Campbell of Scott City and Mary Puckett of Oran; two step-daughters, Annie Vandergriff of Poplar Bluff and Ella Wells of Grand Blanc, Mich.; one brother, J.D. Moore of Sikeston; one sister, Margaret Roberts of Shelby, Idaho; 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother.
Friends may call today after 5 p.m. at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Jim Matthews officiating. Burial will follow in Lightner Cemetery.
