ANNISTON -- Clifford Henry Counts, 81, of Anniston, died Monday, June 24, 1991, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, following an extended illness.

He was born Dec. 24, 1909, in Missouri, son of John Tucker and Mary Burton Counts. He married the former Hazel Simmerman Chandler.

Counts was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, William Counts of Anniston, Carl Counts of New Madrid, Henry Counts of Dorena, Cletus Counts of Canalou, and Kenny Counts of East Prairie; four daughters, Christine Cogdill of Charleston, Marie Hohne of St. Louis, Trudy Jones of Houston, Texas, Anita Counts of Dorena; a stepson, Thomas Simmerman of Lone Oak, Texas; a stepdaughter, Barbara Sims of Anna, Ill.; a brother, William Counts of East Prairie; a sister, Alice Evans of Denver, Colo.; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Shelby Funeral Chapel in East Prairie. The Rev. Amos Johnson will officiate, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. today.
