TAMMS, Ill. -- Clifford J. Betts, 94, of Tamms died Saturday, March 3, 2007, at the Jonesboro Health Care Center.
He was born Jan. 16, 1913, in Alexander County, Ill., son of Lark Jackson and Mary Dillman Betts. He and Lilly E. Dickerson were married Aug. 23, 1938.
Betts was a member of the Elco Methodist Church. He was a retired farmer and had been active with the Tamms Senior Citizens.
Survivors include his wife, Lilly Betts of Tamms; a son, Lacie D. Betts of Tamms; two daughters, Linda Lingle of Jonesboro, and Debra Knupp of Tamms; two brothers, Charles Betts of Murray, Ky., and Wesley Betts of Brighton, Ill.; six sisters, Mary Overmeyer and Vernetta Henderson of Bethalto, Ill., Bernelda Burney, Carmelita Betts and Edna Gold, all of Wood River, Ill., and Alta Smith of Carbondale, Ill.; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, three grandchildren, four brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at Elco Methodist Church.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with Rev. Rob Grief officiating. Interment will be at St. John's Cemetery.
