Cletus Elmer Crites, 73, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, at Heartland Care and Rehab Center.

He was born May 14, 1944, in Warrensburg, Missouri, son of Elmer R. and O. Lorene Rion Crites.

Cletus was a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson. He worked as a farmhand and later worked for VIP Industries from 1980 to 1999.

He enjoyed being involved at the Salvation Army in Cape Girardeau as well as its men's fellowship. Cletus moved to Cape Girardeau in 1983.

Loving survivors include two sisters, Irene (Robert) Menge of St. Charles, Missouri, and Wilma Brugger of Jackson. He also is survived by many nieces, nephews, beloved friends and a special friend, Euetta Ford.

Cletus was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Hilda McClain and Juanita Westrich; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Brugger.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Crites officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Salvation Army.

The family would like to thank the Salvation Army and Heartland Care and Rehab for the compassion and care that was exhibited to Cletus.
