MARBLE HILL -- Cletis B. "Clete" Bidewell, 87, of Webster Groves, died Thursday, March 31, 1994, at St. John's Medical Center in St. Louis.
He was born July 19, 1906, in southern Bollinger County, son of George W. and Jane Crites Bidewell. He and Hattie Herrell were married in 1938.
Bidewell was a graduate of Will Mayfield College, Southeast Missouri State University, and University of Missouri School of Journalism.
He was a teacher and coach in Southeast Missouri, served five years with the Missouri Highway Patrol, and retired after 33 years with the FBI.
Bidewell was a member of Webster Groves Baptist Church, served as chairman of the Board of Deacons many years, and was also on the board of Missouri Baptist College many years.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jan Buckingham of Los Angeles, Calif.; a son, Joe Bidewell of New York; three brothers, Ivan Bidewell of Albuquerque, N.M., Len Bidewell of Memphis, Tenn., and C. Ben Bidewell of Poplar Bluff.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
