ORAN -- Cleophis "Cleo" MIlls, 76, of rural Oran died Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, at the Sikeston Convalescent Center.
He was born Nov. 30, 1922, in Mississippi, son of Jim and Esther Eanes Mills. He married Willie B. Steward on April 7, 1950.
He had lived in Missouri more than 65 years. He was a retired school bus driver for the Scott County Central School system. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Greer's Chapel Baptist Church in Sikeston.
He also is survived by his wife; four sons, Eddie Mills of Oran, Cleophis J. Mills Jr. of Marion, Ind., Michael J. Mills of Indianapolis, Ind., and Ronnie P. Mills of Sikeston; two daughters, Vickie Andrews and Twana Townsend, both of Sikeston; a sister-in-law he raised, Minnie Moore of Sikeston; three sisters, Marjorie Bonner of Sikeston, Ora B. Mills of St. Louis and Irene Cooperwood of Chicago; 20 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildrenFriends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Williams-Farr and Purnell Funeral Home in Sikeston.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Scott County Central High School gymnasium with his son, the Rev. Cleophis Mills Jr., officiating. Burial will be at the Sunset of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
