Funeral for Cleo Eakin Burton of Cape Girardeau will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. The Rev. Raymond McAfee will officiate. Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery near Bell City.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. today.

Burton, 56, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999, at her home.

She was born Feb. 12, 1943, at Bell City, daughter of Othel L. and Mary Reed Eakin.

Burton was a graduate of Bell City High School, and attended Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.

She had worked at the former Mutual of Omaha Insurance Offide, former State Collection and Mid-South Finance Co., and from 1992-98 she was secretary at Horizon Music.

Survivors include a daughter, LaDonna Statler of Marble Hill; her mother of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, Jim Eakin of Cape Girardeau, Dr. Max Eakin of Carbon, Ill., Terry Eakin of St. Louis; two sisters, Betty Rampley of Jackson, Sandy Benefield of McClure, Ill.; and a granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her father.
