Cleman J. Quade Jr., 68, of Jackson passed away Sunday, Sept. 30, 2018, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born Dec. 31, 1949, in Cape Girardeau to Cleman John and Anna Lee Schweer Quade Sr. He married Kathie Banes on Nov. 21, 1968. Cleman was a 1968 graduate of Jackson High School...

Cleman J. Quade Jr., 68, of Jackson passed away Sunday, Sept. 30, 2018, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Dec. 31, 1949, in Cape Girardeau to Cleman John and Anna Lee Schweer Quade Sr. He married Kathie Banes on Nov. 21, 1968.

Cleman was a 1968 graduate of Jackson High School.

He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving honorably from July 9, 1968, to June 23, 1970, including one year in Vietnam. His citations included the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal (Heroism), Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. In addition to these honors, he was also awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge. He was a member of American Legion Post 158 in Jackson.

His work as a heavy tow boat captain took him away from his family, so when he came home he enjoyed spending time with them.

Loving survivors include his wife of nearly 50 years, Kathie Quade of Jackson; three children, Kent (Michelle) Quade and Kurt Quade, both of Jackson, and Kara (Ronnie) Hutchason of Cape Girardeau; seven grandchildren, Kaitlin (Adam) Noce, Cort Hutchason, Emily, Ethan, Taylor, Parker and Tessa Quade; two great-grandchildren, Holden and Lillian Noce; and two siblings, John (Ann) Quade and Susan Dry of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Laura Pinkerton.

A memorial visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., with a military honors service at 7:30 p.m., Thursday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
