SIKESTON, Mo. -- Cleatus G. Lemmons, 84, of Sikeston died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born March 15, 1920, in Randolph County, Ark., son of Arch Clayton and Hassel Allison Lemmons. He and Marjorie Alleene Thomas were married in 1944.
Lemmons farmed from 1945 to 2004. He was a member of Shady Acres Church of Christ.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and earned the Distinguished Flying Cross and other medals for flying more than 30 missions over occupied territory, including a mission on D-Day.
Survivors include two sons, Glenn Lemmons of Sikeston, Thom Lemmons of Abilene, Texas; a daughter, Gay McNab of Monterey, Tenn.; a brother, Albert Lemmons of Nashville, Tenn.; a sister, Shirley Stansbury of Nashville; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife and a brother.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the chapel. Burial will be in garden of Memories Cemetery.
