MIAMI, Fla. -- Funeral service was held July 14 for Clayton Bender Van Wagner of Miami, Fla. Burial was in Woodlawn Park South Cemetery in Miami.
Van Wagner, 17, died Thursday, July 10, 1997, in a go-cart and automobile accident.
He was born Dec. 9, 1979, in Miami, son of John and Rebecca Bender Van Wagner.
He was a senior at Palmetto Senior High School. He was active in sports, music and photography.
A photography scholarship has been set up in his honor at the Miami Palmetto Senior High School.
He played soccer and baseball with the Howard Palmetto Khoury League for many years.
From the age of five until middle school, he played the violin. He was the concert master of the advanced orchestra in seventh grade. He also played tuba, electric guitar and drums.
Survivors include his parents; a sister, Ashley; maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Martha Bender of Cape Girardeau; and paternal grandparents, Addison and Eleanor Van Wagner of Venice, Fla.
