CLAUDE R. DEES

CHAFFEE -- Claude R. Dees, 86, of Chaffee, died Saturday, May 9, 1992, at the Chaffee Nursing Center.

He was born in Wayne County Aug. 11, 1905, son of Henry and Laura Phelps Dees.

He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Chaffee.

On April 24, 1927 he married Emma Ella Gobble of Zalma. She preceded him death on Feb. 10, 1988.

He was a retired farmer. He was also retired as a machine operator at the Sports Specialty Shoe Co. in Chaffee, and served on the Chaffee Police Department more than 4 years after retirement from the shoe factory.

Survivors include a son, Avery Dees of Scott City; a daughter, Terry Fornkahl of McClure, Ill.; three brothers, Philip Dees of Dexter, Earnest Dees of Detroit, Mich, and George Dees of Belton, Mo.; two sisters, Nora Caldwell of Dexter and Cathy Horn of Turlock, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, three brothers, one sister, one grandson and one great grandson.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee after 10 a.m. today.

Service will be at the funeral home at 2 p.m. today. Burial will be in Union Park Cemetery at Chaffee.
