Claude "C.M." Foeste, 93, of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, at Ratliff Care Center.
He was born Nov. 23, 1918, in Cape Girardeau, to Maple and Rose Nabe Foeste. He and Dorothy R. Meyer were married Aug. 3, 1940, at Benton, Mo.
Claude served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was of the Lutheran belief. He was a member of VFW Post 3838 and Travelers Protective Association. He was an artist and enjoyed oil painting.
Claude and his wife were owners of Foeste Nursery Inc., which was started in 1947. He was very passionate about his landscaping business and devoted his whole life to it.
Loving survivors include his wife of 72 years; a daughter, Audrey (Larry) Borgfield of Jackson; two sons, Michael (Jane) Foeste and Steve (Debbie) Foeste of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Bessie Bozarth of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren, Sandy (John) Schnicker and Brad (Tosha) Borgfield of Jackson, Chris, Robert, Paige and Vince Foeste of Cape Girardeau; four great-grandchildren, Samantha Schnicker and Ava, Grant and Grady Borgfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, conducted by a family friend, the Rev. Tom Kiefer.
The funeral will be private, with the Rev. Douglas Breite officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum. Military rites will be provided by VFW Post 3838 and Missouri Honors Team.
