Clarence Lee Shirrell, 97, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at his home.
He was born March 12, 1927, in Cape Girardeau to Clarence H. and Gertie Smith Shirrell.
Clarence was a veteran of World War II, serving honorably in the U.S. Army.
He and Patricia Strack were married in 1950. Patricia preceded Clarence in death. He and Donna Pfeifer were married in 1989. Donna survives.
Clarence owned and operated Concrete Castings.
To cherish his memory, Clarence leaves his wife of 35 years, Donna Shirrell of Jackson; his children, Cliff (Lynnette) Shirrell, Connie (Kelly) Brewer and Carla (Glenn) Smith; Donna’s children, Justine (Mitch) Mitchell, Sterling M. (Julie) Pfeifer and Bruce (Erin) Pfeifer; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his siblings, Clinton (Elaine) Shirrell, Bonnie (Shelby) Christy, Clayton (Sherry) Shirrell and Charles Shirrell; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife; parents; and siblings, Wilma (Lloyd) Ervin, Wanda June Shirrell, Cletis Shirrell and Mildred (Charles) Eastwood.
A memorial visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to Mass time Friday, May 10, 2024, at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau.
Father Rick Jones will celebrate funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Friday, May 10. Military honors will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates memorial contributions to the Tuition Assistance Funds of the following schools: St. Vincent De Paul Grade School, St. Mary’s Grade School or Notre Dame Regional High School. Mass cards will be available at the church.
Clarence donated his body to medical science, facilitated by McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
