JACKSON, Mo. -- Clarence Riley Schweain, 76, of Jackson died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born April 9, 1924, in Advance, son of John Riley and Mayme J. Wallace Schweain. He and Lena Smith were married Nov. 27, 1944, in Cape Girardeau.
Schweain served in the Army during World War II and retired from the Missouri National Guard in 1951. He was a crew foreman in the Gas and Water Dept. at Union Electric No. 705. He retired from there in 1986 after 39 years.
He was a member of the Church of Christ in Jackson and of VFW Post No. 3838 in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Clarence Ray Schweain of Jackson; two daughters, Reita Faye Conley and Peggy Ann Crawford, both of Jackson; two brothers, Jerry R. Schweain and Charles "Tom" Schweain, both of Jackson; four sisters, Betty Rohman of Scranton, Pa., Mary Niemann of Jackson, Candy Gottfried of St. Louis and Hazel Collins of Cape Girardeau; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jerry Culbertson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
