Clarence S. Mecham, 75, 611 South West End Boulevard, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 1991, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Jan. 19, 1916, in Paris, Mich., son of Clarence S. and Sarah Howard Mecham Sr.
Mecham worked at Cape Supply Co. 20 years, and as a truck driver for Stovall Block and Brick Co. He retired in 1979.
On Oct. 27, 1945, he married the former Peggy Smith Trammell in Jackson. She died Oct. 14, 1984.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a member of Word of Life Fellowship Church.
Survivors include a stepson, Bobby Trammell of Jonesboro, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Maisie Taylor of Old Appleton; a brother, Willie Mecham of Cape Girardeau; six stepgrandchildren; 12 great-stepgrandchildren; 10 nieces and nephews.
A brother and sister preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel. The Rev. Earl Cox will officiate. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery, with VFW Post 3838 conducting military rites.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
