SCOTT CITY -- Clarence Robert Sander, 76, of Scott City, died Monday, March 7, 1994, at his home.

He was born Nov. 17, 1917, at Fornfelt, son of Herman Adolph and Martha Margaret Springer Sander. He and Wilma "Billie" Menz were married Dec. 29, 1942, in Clovis, N.M.

Sander was a retired conductor with Cotton Belt Railroad. He was a sergeant in the 713th Railway Battalion with the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a member of Eisleben Lutheran Church, member and past commander of VFW Post 6407, and member of United Transportation Union 562.

Survivors include his wife; a son, David Sander of Scott City; a brother, Herman Sander Jr. of Cahokia, Ill., and two granddaughters.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Scott City after 5 p.m. today. A prayer service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Eisleben Church, with the Rev. Joel Sarrault officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
