ESSEX -- Funeral service for Clarence Orville Mayberry of Essex will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Rainey Funeral Chapel in Dexter. The Revs. Winferd Wren and Roy Stafford will officiate, with burial in Dexter Cemetery.

Mayberry, 85, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 1997, at Dexter Memorial Hospital in Dexter.

He was born Dec. 5, 1911, at Essex, son of Joe and Matilda Kieffer Mayberry. He and Lorene LaRue were married Feb. 13, 1937, at Dexter.

Mayberry was a retired farmer, and member of Gospel Assembly Church in Dexter.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dale and Larry Mayberry of Essex; a daughter, Carolyn Mier of Houston, Texas; a brother, Walter Mayberry of Swayzee, Ind.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and a sister.
