CHAFFEE, Mo. Clarence Frederick "Butch" Held, 82, of Chaffee died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, at Chaffee Nursing Center.
He was born Jan. 26, 1918, at Illmo, Mo., son of Dave and Amelia Sander Held. He and Bertilla Rose Gosche were married March 30, 1940. She died June 10, 1954. He later married Helen Cruse Cline Jan. 21, 1955. She died Sept. 10, 1998.
Held was a machinist 40 years at Marquette Cement Co. in Cape Girardeau. He was a member of Eisleben Lutheran Church in Scott City, Mo.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded a Purple Heart.
Survivors include three sons, Ronnie Held of Chaffee, Norman Held of Walls, Miss., Gilbert Held of Norman, Okla.; three daughters, Mary Lee, Shirley Cook and Kay Stull of Scott City; three sisters, Edna Hagan, Marie Burger and Vera Mae Lohmann of Scott City; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 4 to 8 p.m. today and Sunday after noon at Eisleben Church.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church, with the Revs. Barry Pfanstiel and Bob Azinger officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
