Clarence "C.R." Haertling, 88, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, July 18, 2002, at the Lutheran Home.
He was born Jan. 13, 1914, son of Oswald H. and Augusta E. Pfeiffer Haertling. He and Elda Buck were married Oct. 10, 1937, at Altenburg, Mo. Elda died Aug. 11, 2000.
Mr. Haertling was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, an associate member of Zion Lutheran Church, Ft. Meyers, Fla.
Clarence was a charter member of Cape Rotary West, associate member of Southeast Missouri Hospital Auxiliary, member of the former Cape County Realtors and State Realtors, served on the agriculture committee of Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce, member of Mended Hearts Inc., and T.P.A.
Mr. Haertling was founder of Cape Realty and was associated with the business from 1958 until his retirement in 1978.
He is survived by two sons, Larry and Dennis Haertling of Cape Girardeau; two grandsons, Gregg Haertling of Argyle, Texas, Brad Haertling of Jackson, Mo.; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by nine brothers and a sister.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Douglas Breite officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to Elda Haertling Scholarship Fund in care of Southeast Missouri Hospital, or to Living Hope.
