MARBLE HILL -- Clarence Douglas, 82, of Chesterfield, formerly of Marble Hill, died Tuesday, May 12, 1992, at his home. He was born Dec. 4, 1909, at Hurricane, son of Charles E. and Emmaline Patton Douglas. He and Lona Abernathy were married Sept. 2, 1932. She died Aug. 28, 1980. He and the former Ima W. Douglas were married Aug. 8, 1981...

MARBLE HILL -- Clarence Douglas, 82, of Chesterfield, formerly of Marble Hill, died Tuesday, May 12, 1992, at his home.

He was born Dec. 4, 1909, at Hurricane, son of Charles E. and Emmaline Patton Douglas. He and Lona Abernathy were married Sept. 2, 1932. She died Aug. 28, 1980. He and the former Ima W. Douglas were married Aug. 8, 1981.

Douglas was a timber worker.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Clarence Douglas Jr. of Farmington, Darrell Douglas of Marble Hill; five daughters, Ernestine Strong, Marceda Long and Velta Douglas of Marble Hill, Maretta Lowes of Jackson, Carolyn Rogers of Nacogdoches, Texas; a stepson, Charles Douglas of Troy; four stepdaughters, Shirley Mosher of Nowata, Okla., Ima DeNoon of O'Fallon, Peggy Schmidt of Chesterfield, Barbara Smith of Ballwin.

Other survivors are two brothers, Paul Douglas of Marble Hill, Gene Douglas of Allenville; six sisters, Anna Douglas of Orrville, Ohio, Eula Besher and Ruby Brotherton of Patton, Beulah Marx of Mehlville, Delphia Brown of Marble Hill, Mildred Long of Sedgewickville; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 14 stepgrandchildren, and seven great-stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, a sister, two grandchildren and a stepgrandchild.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Chapel in Patton. The Revs. Steve and Jerry Sander will officiate, with burial in Pulliam Cemetery near Marble Hill.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until service time.
