Clarence Albert Cobb, 83, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, March 14, 2006, in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Feb. 8, 1923, in Marble Hill, Mo., son of Henry Allen and Dora Welker Cobb. He and Margaret Cox were married Feb. 22, 1947, in Jackson.
Mr. Cobb grew up in Marble Hill and was a graduate of Marble Hill High School and Steimle Business College in Cape Girardeau. He moved to Cape Girardeau in 1947.
He retired from the Navy and served in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association and Disabled American Veterans.
Mr. Cobb was a sales clerk for Riverside West. He was a member of West Side Church of God and taught Sunday School 27 years and served on various church boards. He was a scoutmaster for Troop 15 from 1955 to 1958.
He is survived by his wife; a son, William Cobb of Carbondale, Ill.; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jim Stone of Delta; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Monica Cobb of Belton, Mo.; a stepbrother, Elzie
"Jake" Cobb of Lakewood, Colo.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Verna Mae Thompson of Jackson, Virginia and James Buttry of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren, Amy Stone of Delta and Beth Cash of Scott City; four great-grandchildren, Heather Owen of Delta, Haley Owen of Forsyth, Mo., Melody and Harmony Cash of Scott City.
He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many friends in Cape and Bollinger counties. He enjoyed friends at Woodland Cafe in Marble Hill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, two brothers, a grandson, Chad Stone, and a granddaughter, Angela Stone.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.
The funeral will be at West Side Church of God at 10 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Fred Ritter and Rev. Jeremy Clayton officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau with military rites conducted by Missouri Honors Team.
Memorials may be made to Hahn's Chapel Cemetery or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
