Clarence Melvin Baugher (aka Mighty Fine or Percy), 73, of Mammoth, Ariz., passed away Thursday, March 31, 2011, at his home, with his family by his side. Although battling prostate cancer, his cause of death was congestive heart failure.
Clarence was born June 2, 1937, in McClure, Ill., to Clarence and Lena Hunsaker Baugher.
Siblings are Eileen Story of Pekin, Ill., Bill Baugher of East Cape Girardeau, Ill., Donna Bennett (deceased) of Thebes, Ill., Carolyn Thomas and Sharon Burpo of East Cape Girardeau and Mary Robert of Cape Girardeau.
Clarence graduated from Thebes Township High School in 1955. He received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force in 1959.
He and Sonjia Orick were married Feb. 12, 1962, in Thebes. They moved west to Los Angeles, where he worked as an installer/repairman for Pacific Telephone Co.
Following a year in Portland, Ore., Clarence and Sonjia moved to Mammoth, Ariz., in 1980 where they purchased the 77 Drive In.
Clarence is survived by his wife Sonjia; children, Lisa (Robert) Maloney of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Kenneth (Christina) Baugher of Craigsville, Va., John (Claudia) Baugher of Mammoth, Rebecca (Thomas) Malone of Springerville, Ariz., Jeffrey Baugher of Mammoth; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.
In honoring his request, there will be no service for Clarence.
