Funeral mass for Clara Maria Schafer, 3758 State Highway 74, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Cathedral. Msgr. Richard Rolwing will officiate, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Friends may call at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel after 5:30 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7.

Schafer, 80, died Tuesday, April 4, 1995, at Heartland Care and Rehab Center.

She was born Jan. 12, 1915, in Scott City, daughter of Herman J. and Ottilia Georger Miller. She and George N. Schafer were married June 3, 1935, in St. Louis.

Schafer was a seamstress. She spearheaded a lap blanket project in the area and received recognition from the Southeast Missourian, The Mirror, and KFVS-TV. She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, Council of Catholic Women and Farm Bureau.

Survivors include her husband; four sons, Edward, William and Robert Schafer of Cape Girardeau, Thomas Schafer of Poplar Bluff; two brothers, Edward Miller of Madison, Ill., Donald Miller of Orrington, Maine; three sisters, Estella Miller of Scott City, Henrietta Gibbs of Camdenton, Anna Schuman of Ferguson; 11 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, brother and sister.
