ANNA, Ill. -- Claire C. Garner, 77, of Anna died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, at Union County Hospital. He was born May 3, 1921, in Wayne City, son of Virgil O. and Lora L. Hood Garner. He and Lena Marie Zack were married in October 1941 in Little Rock, Ark. She died Jan. 3, 1986...

ANNA, Ill. -- Claire C. Garner, 77, of Anna died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, at Union County Hospital.

He was born May 3, 1921, in Wayne City, son of Virgil O. and Lora L. Hood Garner. He and Lena Marie Zack were married in October 1941 in Little Rock, Ark. She died Jan. 3, 1986.

Garner was a retired school teacher, and had also been a mechanic at Owens-Illinois Glass Co. in Streater. He was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include a son, Charles Garner of Anna; two brothers, Bruce Garner of Dwight, and Lael Garner of Marion.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 6-8 p.m. Friday.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Harry Brownlee, Ryan White and Tom Davis officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Centralia.
