C.J. Hilton, 82, of Jackson died Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at Jackson Manor.

He was born Nov. 4, 1928, in Octavia, Okla., to Carl Walter and Eva Maggard Hilton. C.J. and Doris Mitchell were married Feb. 12, 1949, in Talihina, Okla.

C.J. graduated from Smithville High School in Smithville, Okla., and attended Southeast Oklahoma University in Wilburton.

He was a lab technician with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 25 years, retiring in 1989.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Doris of Jackson; a son, Desmond (Barbara) Hilton of Lake St. Louis, Mo.; a daughter, Teresa (John M.) Thompson of Jackson; three sisters, Okla Kirkpatrick of Poteau, Okla., Audis Gwaltney of Smithville, Helen Brown of Newcastle, Okla.; three grandchildren, Kyle (Erica) Thompson, Kaci (Luke) Hubbard, Kody (Mallory) Thompson; two great-grandchildren, Drew and Drake Thompson.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Desmond, and a sister, Gladys.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to service time Friday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Matthews officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Southeast Hospice or to the Alzheimer's Association.
