DEXTER, Mo. -- Christy Lea Naile Ellis, daughter of Charles (Sandy) Naile of Farmington, Missouri, and Barbara Turner (Robert) Criss of Benton, Missouri, was born Oct. 18, 1975, in Cape Girardeau. She departed this life Saturday, June 27, 2020, at her home in Dexter at the age of 44.

On Feb. 11, 2012, she was united in marriage to Joey Lee Ellis in Morley, Missouri. She was a loving mother to Joseph Lee Ellis.

Christy graduated from Kelly High School and went on to Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, pursuing a degree in criminal justice. She furthered her education by completing her master's degree in science/administration of justice and security at the University of Phoenix. In addition, she was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Benton.

Survivors include her husband, Joey Ellis; father and stepmother, Charles (Sandy) Naile; mother and stepfather, Barbara Turner (Robert) Criss; son, Joseph Ellis of Benton; sisters, Kim (Patrick) Schlosser of Cape Girardeau, Tami Payne of McLeansboro, Illinois, and Holly (Dave) Lauter of St. Louis; six nephews; two nieces; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Tillman and Willie Turner, Aubrey and Helen Naile and Earl and Alberta Criss.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m., with a memorial service beginning at 2 p.m., July 10 at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton. Interment will follow in Unity Baptist Church Cemetery.
